FernLeaf Interactive is a climate resilience software solutions company built on the vision that we can use data to empower communities and companies to maximize the effectiveness of their investments in preparing for and adapting to climate hazards. Our team of recognized leaders in the data-driven climate resilience field has a proven track record of using the best available data and technologies to solve real-world problems.
We believe that climate plays a critical role in almost every economic decision that needs to be made. We also believe that decisions are not made on climate alone. With our expertise in climate resilience and systems thinking, we are able to help integrate decisions about the assets we care about with the environment of which they are a part. With our expertise in big data, we are able to distill analytical indicators from the best available data to reduce uncertainty about the decision at hand.
FernLeaf Interactive is a commercial spinoff of UNC Asheville’s National Environmental Modeling and Analysis Center (NEMAC). NEMAC is a boundary organization focused on helping people understand—and reach decisions in—a changing world. NEMAC has been active in applying 3D visualization solutions to complex decision making for over a decade.
In addition to our commercial solutions, our interdisciplinary team partnered with NOAA and other federal agencies to spearhead the resilience component of President Obama’s Climate Action Plan. Our team is behind many of the analyses and visualizations featured on NOAA’s climate.gov website, the U.S. Climate Resilience Toolkit, and in the National Climate Assessment. We have jointly driven innovation and development to use 3D analysis and interactive visualization to understand complex problems and build resilience.
